OUR HISTORY
The Fundación Artes Escénicas Colonense Internacional (FAECI) emerged as a fervent youth movement in Colón, Panama, on April 1, 2011. Since its founding, by Meyvis L. Blackman at age 21, it has been incredibly dedicated to promoting the arts and culture in the province. Throughout its 12 years of existence, FAECI has promoted successful projects and events such as "Colón Capital of Art" and "Express your Art for Peace", strengthening its mission of empowerment and development. With Meyvis' diverse vision and leadership, supported by a Master's Degree in Cultural Management, FAECI has established sustainable cultural spaces in the province of Colón, strengthening the passion and joint action of a team of volunteers.
Since its inception, FAECI has worked incredibly hard to reduce inequalities through alternative and technical artistic training, especially in the performing arts. His focus on non-commercial and experimental art has proven to be a catalyst for creativity and positive impact on society.
We are proud to have a network of diverse and talented volunteers who are fundamental to the development of our activities. Since our beginnings, we have worked with young volunteers and professional artists who, for the most part, make a living from informal work. Although the consumption of non-experimental and alternative art is not as commercialized in our province, we all share a passion for art and contribute to the multiplier effect for the following generations.
Description Title
FAECI has established strategic alliances with social, cultural and educational organizations, such as the Panamanian Women's Center and the Integra Vidas Foundation. It has also collaborated with international organizations, local and national governments, embassies and private companies, demonstrating its influence on multiple levels. The foundation values and promotes local talent, providing opportunities to emerging artists and establishing connections with broader audiences.
Currently, we are promoting the creation of cultural centers for creation and our first cultural center, called Street House, is a space built thanks to the hands of many young people and the donation of different actors.
Within our development programs, it is worth highlighting "Living what you like", dedicated to the creative and cultural industries. Additionally, we work hard on the creation of new artists and educational social programs of artistic exploration in collaboration with local institutions. We have also promoted social inclusion and the empowerment of young people as multiplying agents of change.
